Hexadecimal color-codes range from #000000 for black to #ffffff for white. Standard HTML text color labels such as blue, yellow, etc. work also. It is better to use Web safe colors. There are some hexadecimal colors that are not Web safe. If you break your hexadecimal numbers down to their RGB (Red-Green-Blue) equivalents, the Web safe colors are 0 and those equally divisible by 51. This is because these are the 216 colors chosen by Windows and MAC platforms to make up their palettes of colors. The colors that aren't represented here are the colors that these try to make up by dithering. In other words, the safe RGB colors are 0, 51, 102, 153, and 254. The colors correspond with the hex code shades 00, 33, 66, 99, cc, and ff. Using just those 6 hex combinations over red, blue, and green, gives a total of 216 colors that will render perfectly on your screen.
